Not just your animal: the whole sky of your birth hour

What does “Zi Wei Dou Shu” mean?
The name itself is a sky map: an emperor star, two star groups and a method for reckoning fate.
- 紫zǐ
Purple. In China, the colour of the emperor and the heavenly palace.
- 微wēi
Subtle, hidden: barely visible, yet decisive.
- 斗dǒu
The Dipper: the stars of the Northern and Southern Dipper. The stars in the chart belong to these two groups.
- 數shù
Number, reckoning: fate calculated from the moment of birth.
In Chinese tradition Zi Wei is the “emperor star”, associated with the Pole Star: the whole sky turns around it. The celestial enclosure around it, the “Purple Enclosure”, gave its name to Beijing’s Forbidden City (紫禁城, literally “the Purple Forbidden City”): the emperor’s palace on earth as a mirror of the palace in the sky. In the West the system is known as “Purple Star Astrology”.

Questions
What does “Zi Wei” mean?
“Subtle purple”: 紫 is imperial purple and 微 means subtle, hidden. It is the “emperor star”, associated with the Pole Star around which the sky turns; Beijing’s Forbidden City takes its name from its celestial enclosure. Dou (斗) are the Dipper stars and Shu (數) means reckoning.
What if I do not know my exact birth time?
The hour decides your Life Palace, so it matters a lot. Check your birth certificate. If you only know a window, use its middle and watch for the "hour boundary" note.
Why true solar time?
The Chinese hour follows the real position of the sun where you were born, not the clock. We correct for longitude, the time zone and daylight saving in force on that date, and the equation of time.
Who writes the reading?
An open-source engine generates it by rule from the classical Zi Wei Dou Shu texts, so the same chart always gives the same text. Translation is automatic. This is traditional astrology for entertainment and self-reflection.
Do you keep my data?
Your name and birth place are processed only in your browser. The server only receives the chart key (date, Chinese hour, sex) to fetch the reading.
Can I get a refund?
It is digital content delivered at once, so the law lets you waive withdrawal. Even so, if the reading does not load or contains an error, we refund you.
Which years are covered?
Births from 1950 to 2026.
